JEWEL CARE

Jewelry is special, no matter what it is made of.

Taking care of your jewelry

It’s important to treat your jewelry with care to ensure you can enjoy it forever, so we wanted to give you some simple tips.

Cleaning your jewelry

We recommend regularly washing your jewelry with soap and water and drying it thoroughly. Silver jewelry can rust when it comes into contact with the environment, especially if it isn’t used often. If your jewelry rusts, we recommend using products that are specifically intended to clean silver, which you can purchase online or at a variety of other stores. If your gold jewelry requires more than a surface-level cleaning it should be taken to a professional jeweler.

Repairs

Honnest guarantees the utmost quality in our products, and we offer free repairs for six months after the date of purchase. Our quality guarantee covers use-related damage as well as imperfections from the production process.

Avoid contact with chemicals

In addition to obvious toxic sources, this also includes anything you might be putting directly on your body, such as perfumes, lotions, creams and oils, and even laundry detergent. Prolonged exposure to chemicals can cause your jewelry to become darker in color, lose shine, or damage its finishing. Chemical abrasion can also damage stones and gems. Organic gemstones like pearls are particularly vulnerable to chemicals, and should always be kept away from soaps, perfumes, creams, lotions, etc.

Avoid extreme temperatures

Try not to expose your jewelry to dramatic temperature changes, especially if it is particularly vulnerable to color changes. Precious gems can become dehydrated and should not be directly exposed to direct heat, such as lights, heaters, and direct sunlight.

Prevent scratches

Diamonds can easily scratch other gemstones or metals, so we recommend keeping your diamond jewelry away from other pieces, especially those made with materials with a shorter lifespan.

When to remove your jewelry

We recommend removing all jewelry before swimming, sleeping, and doing exercising, or doing any kind of activity that makes you sweat.

Avoid contact with water

Jewelry should not be worn in the shower, the pool, or the ocean. This is not just to preserve the materials, but to prevent the message inside from getting wet.

Check your jewelry often

Ensure that the ends of your bracelet that come apart are always properly closed and in good condition. If there are any settings on those ends, check that the gemstones are properly mounted so they do not fall out.

Storing your jewerly

Store your jewelry in a dry place. Avoid bathrooms and other places that could be damp. The best way to preserve your jewelry is to keep each piece separate. If you use something specifically intended to store jewelry, keep each piece in a different compartment. Ensure that it stays dry.
